RISTISAATTO "demo 5/05" Cd-r (self released)
New Finnish band playing raw and basic crust/grind. 20 songs in 9 minutes ! I don’t know if it’s the sound, if it’s the 3-chord music, or if they wanted it that way, but they almost sound "noise" at times, bringing to mind early FEAR OF GOD. Well, it’s all too basic for me, but keep an eye out for them in the future. The CD-r didn’t come with a lyric sheet, but the lyrics for their Ep were of a political nature... http://www.geocities.com/ristisaatto (Y.B.)

TSUNAMI BOMB "the definitive act" Cd (Kung fu)
Newest album by this Us band ; their sound and writing have matured a lot since "the invasion from within" mCd. It probably has slowed down a bit but the songs are still as catchy as before. Lots of melodies for a varied album, ranging from slow poppy songs to more modern and dark ones. Compared to a lot of melodic pop-punk bands TSUNAMI BOMB takes a stance with its fresh and honest sound. Agent M’s beautiful (female) vocals suit and reinforce the music perfectly. All the songs also seem to be in adequation with the lyrical content... being at the same time very heartfelt and personal, and loaded with love, anger and melancholy. Well written (and sometimes "depressive") dealing with loneliness, surmounting life’s torments, taking control of your own life, with how hard it is to start a relationship, about the support that makes you going on in life... Their future material will show if they’ve found their own path... www.kungfurecords.com (P.B.)

USELESS ID "redemption" Cd (Kung fu)
Latest release from this Israeli punk band. They’ve been around for quite a while now & I remember the first songs I heard from them when they were still unknown, it was true DIY skate punk, fast & fun. The band has evolved a lot & is now part of the big indie ranks. 12 tracks of poppy & melodic punk-rock. Ranging from slow, melodic, and quite typical songs to more powerful and modern ones. This album should please fans of RHYTHM COLLISION, FACE TO FACE, VANDALS, ALL and the likes. Produced by Bill Stevenson, and comes with a nice layout. Personal lyrics dealing with feelings, love, and one song about living in fear in a country in constant war and strife... www.kungfurecords.com (P.B.)

BLACK STAR BRIGADE "they think they can knock us down..." Cd (self-released)
US punk band, reminiscent of RANCID a bit. Not bad, not groundbreaking either, but still ok. Lyrics are half-way between "street" type lyrics, and socially aware stuff. http://www.blackstarbrigade.com (Y.B.)

RAINHOLD/ NONSENS split Cd (Rovers)
Two bands I had never heard of, one from Poland, and one from Finland. NONSENS play pretty good female fronted punk-Hardcore. I didn’t like the vocals much, although I usually love female vocals. And sadly enough, they didn’t translate their lyrics ! RAINHOLD play punk-Hardcore as well, but slightly more crust. They too aren’t very original, but they have "something", and their lyrics are cool. http://www.rovers.w.pl (Y.B.)

HYPNOTICS "everyone gets their nanosecond of fame" Cd (GTA)
Damn, this Cd features two Lp’s that came out in 1982 & 83, but I had never heard of them before ! They were from Los angeles, California, but didn’t sound like the early Hardcore or ’nardcore’ bands of that time. Actually, these guys came 5 years too late, as their sound was really ’77 punk oriented. Their first album was okay, but I didn’t enjoy the second much because of the synthesizers and "new wave" feel. Above all, their lyrics were quite moronic. http://www.bomp.com/bomp/GTA.html (Y.B.)

GOVERNMENT ISSUE "discography part one" 2xCd (Dr Strange)
"1980-1985" 2xCd discography part one ! One of the first SxE bands (on DISCHORD rds), turned to one of the first melodic Hc bands ever. Classic tunes here. 2 Cds, 2 hours of music + booklet with discographies and liner notes, on DOCTOR STRANGE. I have never been a huge fan of the band ; they wrote some awesome songs, but also some boring ones. When they played "old school", they were not as good as MINOR THREAT, and when they played melodic Hardcore, they were not as good as DAG NASTY. www.drstrange.com (Y.B.)

INDUST "on evil’s right" Cd (T.H.C.)
This is a metal band from the South of France. They play tight metal with gruff vocals and influences from thrash, death, speed metal, and probably a bit of NyHc too. The intro is a rip-off of EARTH CRISIS’ "firestorm", and they do sound like later EARTH CRISIS quite a bit. If you’re into that style... distribution@overcomerecords.com (Y.B.)

DERIDE "[???]" Cd (Mangrove)
I couldn’t get the title of this release since it’s written in Japanese... 12 tracks in slightly more than 18 minutes. I had already heard some of their previous material & this one was no different ; tight and to the point Japanese Hc, fast but not thrash, with a music that always remains speedy and Hardcore. It’s old school with some modern influences and a clear recognizable Japanese feel to it. Lyrics are all written in Japanese. Kinda reminded of WHAT HAPPENS NEXT ? meets DON DON or LIE or such outfits. mangrove@recordshopbase.com (P.B.)

TO WHAT END ? "the purpose beyond" Lp/Cd (Stonehenge)
Good follow up to their 7" ; 11 tracks of modern mid-tempo crust-punk with dual vocals. It’s all quite tight & catchy, but if you took the female vocals off, all you’d be left with is yet another TRAGEDY-esque kind of music mixed with BURNING KITCHEN. Some riffs are more "melodic" or "emotional" while others fall into a heavier sound. Lyrics are mainly in English except one in Swedish (I assume, or are they from Finland ?). Most are written in a personal (introspective ?) way and deal with feelings, society, freedom of speech... but I could never really figure out their meaning... which reminds me of the Spanish band ALARMA SOCIAL screaming "listen to me, I’ve got something to tell you about" during the whole song & you end up not knowing what he had to say... Oh, and one more criticism... the only contact address for the band is an internet link... Does that mean the traditional way is over & that no letters will be answered ? ;). SUBCAOS "The Last Scream of the Chaos Monger" mCd (Monolith)
Gosh ! Are these guys still around after all this time ? This Cd is awesome ! SUBCAOS hail from Portugal, but here again, it’s another of those bands obsessed with Scandinavia. Don’t ask me why. But the music here is really powerful, they sound like ANTI CIMEX a lot, the production is excellent, this is great Cd ! monolithrec@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

SONOTONE #6 fanzine (in Spanish)
Wow, this is a really thick zine that came out a couple years ago, but it’s still around, I just asked one of the editors. It’s all in Spanish unfortunately, and doesn’t seem to be the most radical (DIY) zine on earth, but they interview a wide variety of bands and don’t hesitate to speak their minds (and they write extensive columns, too). Long and good discussions with CURSE OF ACTION, SIN DIOS, PALE, OVERCOME RECORDS, FUTURO INCIERTO, AFTERLIFE, EL CORAZON DEL SAPO, SORAMAME, STAND STILL, 995, FUERZA DE LUCHA,... Everything from melodic Hc to punk-Hc, modern Hc, Straight-edge and more. No reviews, which makes for a nice change. If you can read Spanish don’t hesitate to contact : darioontour@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

THE VIGILANTES "empty bottles & broken hearts" (Bandworm)
These Swedish kids want to look tough and play some street-punk, but I wasn’t much impressed. They do play punk-rock with some ’77, rock and Oï influences, and sound like a washed up/ rinsed version of THE CLASH, RANCID or even COCK SPARRER. Hmm... http://www.bandwormrecords.de (Y.B.)

GESTALT mailorder distro

COOPER "Cooper makes tomorrow alright" Cd (Kung fu)
4th album by this Dutch band. This three piece has been around since 1994 or so ! They deliver 12 tracks (in approximately 32 minutes) of catchy melodic punk-rock. This album is produced by renowned Bill Stevenson, it’s tight and powerful and reminds me of bands like ALL, a slower DESCENDENTS or POLICE on amphetamine. Fans of rocking & melodic pop-punk like GOOBER PATROL, RHYTHM COLLISION or the VANDALS take note ! No lyric sheet provided. www.kungfurecords.com (P.B.)
-
THE VANDALS "Hollywood potato chip" Cd (Kung fu)
Another album from this very productive Us band. Another piece of tight melodic Hc-rock. ; 14 tracks in about 36 minutes. Most songs are a mix of surf/ skate/ melodic music with a humoristic feel to it, pop-punk with plenty of melodies and some faster tunes : BOUNCING SOULS, AFI, USELESS ID, later ANGRY SAMOANS come to mind. Personal lyrics with a couple of socially aware songs. One QUEEN cover song. www.kungfurecords.com (P.B.)

GOVERNMENT ISSUE "strange wine/ live at CBGB august 30, 1987" Cd (Dr Strange)
Ultimate reissue of G.I.’s material making their whole discography available again. 28 tracks in all, 25 of which were recorded live at the famous CBGB in 1987. Very good sound quality close to the "Finale" recordings. You get most of the classics from their more melodic period : "Caring linbe", "Jaded eyes", "Fun & games", "Beyond"... + 3 studio tracks from 1988 ("Strange wine" session). This Cd ain’t essential but for people who have followed & enjoyed the band’s history it is quite a good documentary of what they were like live. The Cd comes with illustrations, live pictures & some writings about the band’s live & studio story. For those who don’t know about this band, I’d rather advise you to check out the double discography Cd’s of either their 1st period (early 80’s, close to MINOR THREAT, THE FAITH), or for fans of more melodic Hc, the late 80’s period (DAG NASTY style). www.drstrange.com (P.B.)

HELLNATION "dynamite up your ass" Cd (Läjä)
Another album from these grind/thrash veterans. I have the Brazilian version but it also came out on their own label SOUND POLLUTION. First thing I noticed (as usual with those bands) is that it’s 21 tracks in 14.22 minutes but the record is sold as a full length... I was getting a bit bored with so called "power-violence" lately but I must admit this was quite a blow... hyper fast & tight thrash-grind with political lyrics & a really "loud" production that does not affect their sound as it does with many bands. The sound is not clean or powerless, on the contrary, it is powerful. They could be compared to bands like CAPITALIST CASUALTIES, SLIGHT SLAPPERS, DROP DEAD... political/to the point (simplistic ?) lyrics dealing with the punk scene, war, religion & TV brainwashing... www.laja.com.br (P.B.)

CAN’T DECIDE "s/t (discography)" Cd (Boss tuneage)
This compiles all of this infamous band’s material : two 12"s, a split 7" with MEATFLY & their demo. This band’s arose from the ashes of HERESY & RIPCORD with singer John March & Guitarist Steve "Baz"... You can feel some influences in the guitar sound & vocals (imagine HERESY’s most melodic parts & you get a picture...). 27 tracks in nearly 67 minutes, quite catchy & energic melodic Hc-punk close to the SPERMBIRDS, FORCE FED, SNUFF, VERBAL ASSAULT... The booklet includes the original artwork, a biography, live pictures & lyrics (both personal & socially aware, dealing with domestic violence, daily routine & human relationships)... www.bosstuneage.com (P.B.)

ADOLESCENTS "live at the house of blues" Dvd (Kung fu)
Part of the "show must go off !" series this Dvd is a true documentary on this legendary surf punk band ! Unlike most old school punk bands that make reunion shows the ADOLESCENTS have always been around & never ceased playing gigs. As with all Dvd’s in this series, the image & sound quality is great... here you have 19 tracks of pure energy & raw Orange county surf punk... most of their hits are still up to date & played with enough intensity to give most modern melodic bands a lesson... Rick Agnew & Steve Soto’s crew deliver "Amoeba", "kids of the black hole", "no way", "democracy"... and many more hits. It’s nice to see these veterans still care & play with enough honesty. The Dvd also includes special features with a gig from 1982 (average quality) that is a good piece of history + a photo gallery, band commentary + an audio Cd version o the gig. For fans of surf punk/ melodic Hc like AGENT ORANGE, early BAD RELIGION, AVENGERS... www.kungfurecords.com (P.B.)

MOB 47 "ultimate attack" 2xCd (Speed state)
Woaw, when I received this I was first amazed by the classy double CD digipack.... I never thought the band had put out so much material... This is the complete discography compiling all of their tracks (the legendary Ep, the "hardcore attack" demo, lots of cover tracks from DRI, BGK, DISCHARGE, VARUKERS + live and compilation tracks, solo projects & way more...). 124 tracks in all on 2 full length Cd’s. Swedish Hardcore at its best !! from 1984 to 86 + a couple of projects from 1997/98. MOB 47 delivered fast & raw Hc punk, with that typical Swedish sound from the 80’s, unpolished & yet powerful... could be compared to bands like GAUZE, early EXTREME NOISE TERROR, early RAW POWER, BGK... Comes with a booklet containing some of the lyrics, pictures, artwork & translation in English & Japanese. Some songs have an average sound but all in all the quality’s good. Political lyrics dealing with racism, war & oppression, South Africa, animal liberation, politicians & refusing to vote... A must have for most people caring about old Swedish Hc. www.speedstaterecords.com (P.B.)

TOTALITÄR "wallbreaker 1986-1989" Cd (Armageddon)
I have heard some of this band’s releases that ripped. This is an early days discography, and I was a bit disappointed ; considering the songs were written in the mid-80’s, they’re great ; TOTALITÄR was one of the most powerful dis-beat/ scandi-core bands of their time. But 20 years later... so many bands have copied them with a more powerful sound quality that the original fall pale in comparison. Some songs are truly great, some others sound more "average". Well, this is a decent Cd, with a nice history of the band, too bad the lyrics were not translated into english as they looked interesting. http://www.armageddonshop.com (Y.B.)
-
DESARME "corrosion en la nacion" Cd (Nacho pop)
Hey hey hey, another good South american Hc band ! DESARME’s music stands half way between old school Hardcore and Hardcore-punk. It’s a great mix. The sound is good, the music rages, the lyrics deal with social issues.... I like it ! desarme999@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

VIOLENT PACIFICATION + RAMBO + SUBMERGE + GASMASK TERROR, 11/05/2005, Montbrison (France), @ salle du stade de foot (show review)
I was looking forward to seeing RAMBO live and ask them why they had cancelled our show 3 days before the date. Anyways, few people came to that show (80 people ?) but the atmosphere was cool. Guess what kind of music VIOLENT PACIFICATION, from the East of France, play ? Jazz ? Pop ? Metal ? Hehe, thrashcore of course. Very typical, but well played thrashcore. So many bands play that kind of music these days that it’s getting on my nerves, but they were ok. RAMBO were much better than when I saw them two years ago, but they still didn’t match up with their first album or video. Decent thrashcore/crust. It was ironical to see yet another of their band members had broken their leg ! SUBMERGE were really powerful. I’ve always labelled them as "noisy-grind", and I believe this suits them well. They’re really quite original. GASMASK TERROR still play disbeat/crustcore, I believe these guys are obsessed with Scandinavia or something. They were even better than the first time I saw them. (Y.B.)
-
FORCA MACABRA "caveira da forca" Cd (Usina de sangue)
Holy shit. Apart from their demos, I never enjoyed FORCA MACABRA’s recordings much. Too metal, too DISCHARGE-esque, I don’t know. But this album, shit, it really blew me away ! They’re still the same as before, only faster, more hardcore, and with a quite original sound. Raging dis-beat ! http://www.usinadesangue.com.br (Y.B.)
-
STALAG 13 "in control" mCd (Dr Strange)
At last, an official reissue. LOST’N’FUCKED re-released this classic Ep a few years ago, and now DR STRANGE had it remastered (I hate that, but the new sound is pretty good) and added 4 great bonus tracks. STALAG 13 were one of the hundreds early Hardcore bands, from Southern California. They were not too original but still cool. Too bad it’s only 20 minute long. http://www.stalag13nardcore.com (Y.B.)
-
VIIMEINEN KOLONNA "irvikuva" Cd (Hardcore holocaust)
Second album, although it’s only 18 minute long and they don’t sell it as a mini-Cd. And there’s not even a real booklet, just a lyric sheet and band photo. Just as many scandi-punk bands, VIIMEINEN KOLONNA have always been half-way between punk & metal. They have some good riffs and some decent lyrics, but also some shitty ones taken straight from their metal influences. http://www.hardcoreholocaust.com (Y.B.)
-
YOUTH ENRAGE "heyoca" mCd (625)
Although there’s a decent bonus video, this Cd is only 8 minute long, and sold as a full length, which sucks shit ! This put aside, YOUTH ENRAGE play fast, wild, technical and chaotic thrashcore, kinda like the MEATMEN with a modern sound. Not bad. Lyrics in Japanese. http://www.625thrash.com (Y.B.)
-
RIISTETYT "skitsofrenia" Cd (Usina de sangue)
Now I can understand what the fuss is all about. I was not aware RIITSTETYT were already around in 1983 ! I saw them live last year, heard their recent records and thought they were only "ok", but they’ve been around for 20 years, and back in these days, they used to play raw & uptempo scandi-punk. Nice stuff ! I would not say essential, but still pretty cool. http://www.terrotten.com (Y.B.)
-
BANZAI 606 "bagero" Cassette (Disarmament)
Holy shit, I can’t believe this band is Malaysian. This cassette totally kicks ass ! The production is ace, and the band plays fast, tight, raging, to-the-point thrashcore/ power violence, with okay lyrics. This is excellent ! http://www.disarmtohell.tk (Y.B.)
-
DEFDUMP/ KAFKA split Ep
I had enjoyed both bands’ early records but hadn’t heard neither of them in a long time. DEFDUMP, from Luxembourg, started as a (good) NyHc band but their new songs are much more "new school" oriented (read : emo/ metal/ noisy/ Hc mix). I like them less, especially the screaming vocals. They’re still pretty intense and do their thing well. KAFKA haven’t changed much and still play varied Hc (newschool, moshcore, old school) with high-pitched vocals. All in all this is a good (and cute little piece of white) vinyl. kafkahc@tin.it (Y.B.)

THE BLACKLIST + YOUSSOUF TODAY + HORDE OF ZOMBIE, 09/052005, Rennes, @ Mondo bizarro (show review)
RAMBO cancelled their date at the last minute. That was uncool. Their German tour-booker, FLOWER VIOLENCE, sucks. THE BLACKLIST, from Australia, got on the bill at the last minute and delivered strong punk’n’roll very similar to MOTORHEAD. Not bad, but too rock’n’roll for me. Before them, YOUSSOUF TODAY kicked ass. They’re a young French band playing a mix of old school Hc and thrashcore. HORDE OF ZOMBIE were all disguised and played totally goofy grindcore/noise. The first 10 minutes were funny, but they played something like 40 minutes ! :( Oh, I forgot to mention another local "goofy grind" band got on the bill : DEE HOLLE. But I didn’t enjoy them. (Y.B.)
-
ABSOLUTION mCd (Exabrupto)
No, this ain’t the old Us band, it’s a new crust/grind band from Mexico. They’re not bad, just not original at all. The sound quality is pretty good, the cover art is funny, the songs and lyrics are both short and to the point. If you enjoy fast music, give this a try ! exabrupto80@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

ENDSTAND "burning bridges" Cd (Day after)
I saw them in their early days and they were great live, but I always thought they didn’t manage to capture this energy onto disc. This new album picks up where the last one left ; mid-tempo old school Hc, quite similar to current SICK OF IT ALL, with a few emo or metal riffs (or is it the big production and full sound ?). The vocals are quite screamt as well. The lyrics deal with personal and social matters, they’re not really in-depth. http://www.dayafter.cz (Y.B.)

CULTURE PUB + ON THE RAMPAGE, 07/05/2005, Rennes (France), @ Le jardin moderne (show review)
Two local Oï bands for a free gig, but only about 30 people showed up, and it doesn’t seem like the nearby football match had anything to do with that. CULTURE PUB play basic Oï with a rock’n’roll feel. They were ok, but I was annoyed by that rock’n’roll feel, and by the terrible raucous vocals. Why do skinhead bands always sing like that these days ? ON THE RAMPAGE, who share the same drummer, were much better. They’ve been labelled as "Oï-core", but no such thing, they just play typical, raw and fairly powerful Oï. I liked them alright, and would be happy to read their lyrics. (Y.B.)
-
SEEIN RED "this Cd kills fascists" Cd (Peculio)
There’s a whole bunch of Ep’s and split Lp’s on this cd ; fourty tracks in all, which is cool. This said, I’ve never been a big SEEIN RED fan, although I do respect the band members’ honesty, loyalty and commitment. These guys have been around for ages and haven’t changed a bit ! But I’m no big fan of their simple, not to say basic, uptempo hardcore (leaning towards thrashcore these days), and simple, not to say naive, or rather, sloganistic lyrics. Decent. http://www.peculiodiscos.com.br (Y.B.)
-
BIALA GORACZKA "fever/ spokoj" Cd (Pasazer)
Saw them live last year and they blew me away. This Polish band plays tight, versatile anarchopunk in a MORTARHATE/ CRASS rds way, with interesting poetical & political lyrics. The sound is good, the album is an hour long (!!), what more can I say, it’s a good record ! http://www.pasazer.pl (Y.B.)
-
QEPD CARRENO "el caballero de los bares" Cd (D2 rds)
When was this recorded ? From what I understood, this band is an old Peruvian punk band from the 80’s that either are still together, or got back together recently. They play melodic and varied punk-rock. Some songs sound a bit Oï, on some others there is a saxophone. I was a bit annoyed by the nasal vocals, and I thought the music lacked power, but they’re good musicians and this is still a good Cd. They brought to mind many French 80’s punk bands. Their lyrics seem to deal with social topics. calambre_records_peru@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

"Girls attack #3 Festival" : NARKOSPEED + HATE BANGS + LES FEMMES + BALLAST, 06/05/2005, Rennes (France), @ Le jardin moderne (show review)
About 150 people showed up, which was cool, although there could have been more. Four female fronted punk-rock bands, four different styles : NARKOSPEED are a new band from Brittany, west of France, and play basic punk-rock. But they’re a young, and considering this was one for their first shows, they were cool. HATE BANGS are an all-female band from Brittany as well, but more rock/ riot grrl influenced ; some of their songs have a grunge feel while others are straight up punk. They were ok, really, but I would not be surprised to see them on MTV in a couple years... I was looking forward to seeing LES FEMMES as I loved their album, and I was not disappointed (except by the dumb audience). They played nice ’77 oriented punk-rock. Great tunes. BALLAST’s music was good, tight fashionable emo-crust, but they had no substance at all. The only thing they said during the show was "we have Cd’s for sale back there" and "this is a song about our hometown Montreal". Pfff... I too can write songs about my home-village LA CHAPELLE THOUARAULT, but who will care ? (Y.B.)

GANGWAY, MAN ! "muri di virtu" Cd (Liberi diffusori)
This new Italian band mixes that typical Italian melodic punk-Hc sound with rock and metal riffs that spoil everything. Sorry guys, I’m not open-minded enough for that. The sound quality is good, then lyrics are written in a socio/personal way and the layout is very nice. http://www.deldelirio.tk (Y.B.)

THE PROWLERS "chaos in the city" mCd (Mad butcher)
Nice follow-up to their 2000 album. This is a pure Canadian skinhead band, they remind me of a lesser good BRUISERS. They really sound like the BRUISERS a lot, but I don’t like the gruff vocals much, and on the whole they’re not really original (music-wise or lyric-wise). Why do skinhead bands always have vocals like that ? The lyrics are ok and deal with day-to-day life. They don’t really sound like your average MAD BUTCHER band, they’re more rough and tough, and also less political. http://www.madbutcher.de (Y.B.)

FABULOUS DISASTER + CHARLY’S ANGELS, 03/05/2005, Rennes (France), @ Mondo bizarro (show review)
110 people turned up but we were expecting more, hell, FABULOUS DISASTER are on FAT WRECK after all ! CHARLY’S ANGELS were average. I saw them live two or three times before, and they were ok, but it seems like they haven’t evolved in 5 years. Always the same brand of basic punk-rock with a rock’n’roll feel and female vocals. Same songs. FABULOUS DISASTER were great ! They’re not political or DIY or anything, but they’re just a wonderful rock band. The members look really nice and friendly, they obviously have fun playing their instruments and interfering with the audience, I loved their poppy & energetic pop-punk. (Y.B.)

TSUNAMI BOMB "live at the glass house" DVD (Kung fu)
Recorded during their September 2004 tour. Episode 17th of the "show must go off" DVD series. When I received this Cd I was expecting the usual melodic pop punk stuff, although the band had already caught my attention on a previous compilation with their female singer’s powerful & catchy vocals. Boy was I blown away when I watched this ! I guess live they really deliver the best of them... professional video, audio taping and footage with multi-angle cameras, just like the whole series, the result is amazing ! 18 tracks + the usual bonus (tour footage, band commentary, trailers, etc), this DVD is encoded for all areas and I am glad I own it. The band has a great presence on stage, with both the guitarist & bass player jumping around & the beautiful & powerful sung vocals... They play tight melodic Hc that is probably way faster live than the studio stuff, and sound like a more modern & poppier AVENGERS or a slower BLITZ BABIES or BLACK FORK... www.kungfurecords.com (Y.B.)

CONCRETE SOX "your turn next" Cd (Speed state)
Nice digipack reissues making their whole recordings available again... (3 digipacks in all). It’s good to see these records at affordable prices again. CONCRETE SOX was one of England’s leading band amongst the thrash-metal/ punk scene together with bands like HERESY, RIPCORD, ELECTRO HIPPIES, NAPALM DEATH... This album is no exception, here you have the original artwork + many bonus pictures & illustrations + the entire LP and their 1988 demo tape + live tracks and 1 track taken from the "north atlantic noise attack" comp. Members later went onto famous bands like HERESY. 28 tracks of speedy & thrashy metal-punk that could be compared to DOOM, X CRETA or CHAOS UK mixed with Japanese bands. Well written political lyrics dealing with animal rights & animal exploitation (for science, hunting, meat...), with destroying the earth for profit, with indian rights & the independance day... I’m not urging you to live in the past by buying every reissue but fans of old british metal-Hc-punk will sure enjoy this anthology. www.speedstaterecords.com (P.B.)

PLUS LOIN QUE LE BOUT DE SON NEZ #4 fanzine (in French)
(j’men fous, j’ai du pognon !)). xarnoxhosoix@hotmail.com (Y.B.)

EYE WITNESS #61 fanzine
Damn, issue 61 already ? This is a cool German fanzine for all fastcore/ thrashcore/ crustcore freaks out there, with mainly extensive record reviews, band discographies and an interview with EMBALMING THEATRE (grind). My only complaint is... it’s all in German !! Uurghh... http://www.austrinken.com (Y.B.)
